The good news is, my immune system REALLY WORKS. The bad news is, I can barely keep my eyes open. Guess that means I won’t be going to see the new “Ultimate Cut” of Caligula at The Aero tonight.
This, too, may be my immune system piping up: I once rented the original 1980 version from Kim’s Video on West 10th Street and I couldn’t get through the first fifteen minutes. As a dyed-in-the-wool fan of both all things Roman and full-frontal nudity, that is quite the negative reaction.
Even though I’m half-speed, work on Bystander #27 and #28 moves along. This morning, I found a piece that the dear departed F.O.B. Sam Gross submitted to me ‘way back when, and wanted to share it with you. (Sam assured me he owned all rights to the piece, so I think it’s okay.)
“Cigarman” (more info here) was a comic Sam and Randy did for SMOKE Magazine back in 1997-98; I remember seeing it around the Village then, maybe even at Kim’s! Its issues haven’t been archived online, but from the synopses, it doesn’t look like this piece ever ran.
Sigh—Cigarman, where were you in 2016?
