Movies with Mike G: "Simon"

Chat along with Mike tonight at 6 pm Pacific/9 pm EST

Since people enjoyed last week’s live-tweeting of Blake Edwards’ 10 in our Chat, this week I’m firing up the 1980 Alan Arkin/Marshall Brickman comedy Simon. If you’re a fan of Arkin (and you should be), this is a must-watch; likewise if you enjoy Woody Allen’s early, funny pictures, you’ll get some of the same flavor here. Sleeper, Annie Hall and Manhattan were all co-written by the brains behind Simon, Marshall Brickman.

Whereas last week’s movie was extremely glossy and very successful, but ultimately pretty vacant (sorry Dud), Simon’s the exact opposite. It’s available for streaming on YouTube, or you can download it from DirecTV.

What a cast—Arkin, Wallace Shawn, Austin Pendleton, and (sigh) Madeline Kahn. See you in the chat at 6/9 tonight!
