Quickie from #26

As payback, the OSS fucked with the ending to "The Magnificent Ambersons."

I’m back at my desk, all bright and shiny after a very enjoyable lightning inspection tour—first at Bystander’s Midwest Command in Lakeside, MI, and then visiting the loyal troops in Firebase Pretzel outside Philadelphia.

Issue #26, our Cartoonists’ Annual, is finally rounding into shape, and it’s about g.d. time. As I said to Mike Pershan yesterday, nearly every issue is a painful slog until I see in my mind’s eye how each individual page is supposed to look.

It’s the world’s most boring movie…but it is finally happening. Here’s a page from the issue.

In other news, contributor Steve McGinn sent me this fine hat, collected by his late father. The Redbirds are truly terrible this year—I can’t remember a season this bad since the late 90s—but at least I will listen to them lose in styyyyyle. Thank you, Steve!

NB: I do not shave during magazine production…and I’m always in production.
