What's your favorite screwball comedy?

Tell us your choices in the comments.

First up, Michael Gerber, who has many strong opinions on the matter:

This question was shocked to life by a tweet from the usually sensible @Whitstillman, director of the delightful 1990 comedy of manners "Metropolitan," which managed somehow to be both a documentary of my college years, and yet much more entertaining than they ever were.

"#BringingUpBaby #HowardHawks," he tweeted Monday morning, "Humorless cinephiles' favorite comedy."

I felt like I'd swallowed a potato chip sideways. "Oh no," I typed back. "That would be 'The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie.' And for the record, 'Bringing Up Baby' is sublime, but 'Twentieth Century' and 'Ball of Fire' lap it."

@Whitstillman has not responded. Famous people learn to spot and avoid cranks.
